Artistic Sunday

Lucy and I spent some time over the weekend making t-shirts from some of the gifts we got for Christmas. I much prefer Lucy's heartfelt, folk art style flag to my sad attempt at precision and blatant rip-off of Lux Interior's famous declaration.

Little snow, less weight

We had a little bit of snow on the ground this morning. Enough to delay schools for two hours, but that's typical.

I am only posting this because I have registered this weight for two days in a row.
The jinx,of course, begins ... ... ... Now! I visited the oncologist yesterday. I was hoping he would send my away for at least six months, but he wants to see me in two months. I need to get some blood drawn today and he was talking about a CT scan. I don't think that will be until May or so.

Emily Woods publicity still

When Emily Woods isn't solving mysteries, like the mystery of the missing Halloween Candy (Turns out it was Daddy), she likes celebrating Christmas with her family. Christmas in the Woods house is a quarterly affair. It is Celebrated on March 13, May 23, Sept. 12 and Dec. 25.

two weeks of walking

I have been walking three miles each morning for the past 15 mornings. I still weigh in at 250 pounds. Although, I keep telling myself that I carry it well. You can read a day to day account at my newspaper blog.
I have a visit with my oncologist coming up. I think the last time I saw him was September. We should be going to every six months after this. He will be happy to hear that I am exercising and a little less happy to see that I still weigh 250 pounds. I haven't gained any weight. I got that going for me.

Missed this wedding photo

The bride pointed out that I missed this second shot of Lucy cutting lose at the wedding.
It has been over a month when do I stop calling her the bride and refer to her as an old married lady?

Wedding photo

The Bride has posted her photos. You can see all of them at their photo gallery. All of them, so far, are of the wedding party and family except the one above. Of course, Lucy was the first guest to realize that we were there to have fun, so she jumped in on an early dance.

Thanksgiving pix

Thanksgiving eve dinner. You can see the grease from the pepperoni oozing up through the cheese. hmmmmm.

Waiting for the turkey to roast. That's my remote temperature gauge in the background and a Circus Boy beer and a list of things to do in the foreground.

Here's my list of things to do ... I mean partial list of things to do.

an amazing photo of Lucy not mugging for the camera.

Attacked

I was out walking for a little exercise when a couple of drunken thugs attacked me! Unbelievable.
They threw beer on me and then each threw a punch I was able to block one but the next hit me square on the chin.
I took off running and called 911.
It didn't take long for the cops to get there but the whole time I was afraid these guys were going to circle around and find me again.
you can read a better description of the assault on my newspaper blog
What a way to start the weekend.

You have to draw the line somewhere

I'll rake my lawn. You're on your own.

Hockey photos

We went to see The Ohio State University Men's Hockey Team play the Robert Morris Colonials on Sunday. It seemed only right to go with Ann and Tony Morris and their kids.
We had the Newspaper Network of Central Ohio suite for the game. I bought the tickets as a United Way donation. What a great time. The Buckeyes lost and their weren't a lot of people there, but the luxury box is the only way I want to watch hockey from now on. Especially if you have kids!

Ann, Tony, Caden and Corlei (in the background)enjoyed the luxury box.

The kids all had a great time.

Report from Germany

Emily Wood

Our friend Dirk reports that there is a German actress named Emily Wood (no s) who is fairly famous. She does mostly comedy and crime shows on TV. I did not recognize anything on her IMDB page.
Our original idea for the movie was to make it a "Nancy Drew" movie, but when I explained to Lucy about how authors own ideas and names, she decided we needed to change the name of our movie. She came up with the name Emily Woods by herself.
Some other tidbits.
Emily Woods' best friend is her neighbor George Roughman
Her favorite food is pizza.
Her favorite book is "Mother Goose on the Loose" (a New Yorker comic collection)
She loves to ride her bike.
Her favorite color is purple.
Her father is a newspaper editor and her mother, Redleaf Woods, helps at school.

Emily Woods Trailer

The Santa Trap

This is the movie we made last year.

We're working on our Christmas movie

Last year we made "The Santa Trap."
This year we are making a movie called, "Emily Woods and the Mystery of the Missing Reindeer."
Emily Woods is a 7-year-old detective who gets around town on her bike and solves mysteries. In this movie, Santa writes her a letter and tells her that Rudolph has gone missing in Marion, Ohio. It seems that Rudolph is a bit of a history buff and is fascinated with Warren G. Harding, ex-president and former editor of The Marion Star.
Emily follows the clues to sites around Marion while she tries to hunt down the wayward reindeer.
We have constructed our papier-mâché Rudolph and a couple of other props, now we have to finish our script, draw our storyboard and begin shooting - maybe this weekend.
Wish us luck!
