Lucy starts school Thursday

Here is her route to school, if she walks with mom or dad. Last year I took her nearly every day because I was home recovering from surgery...good times.

We Won!

Summer with Lucy won the cannonball contest on Gochongo.com. Whoo Hoo! That's $25 going toward the new video camera fund... or beer ... or some sort of candy.

Here is the video if you didn't get a chance to see it.

Video contest

We are tied for first in the contest. There have not been a lot of votes and we have the highest rating so far. If only a few of you visit the video an vote we could win.
The only catch is that you have to register with the website gochongo.com. It only takes a few minutes and I have not received any spam from them in the week or so since I have been registered...

My Talented Kin

FootHills Publishing is pleased to announce the release of
"The Wild Twist of Their Stems" a collection of poems by Carol Graser.

(Ordering information below)

Carol Graser is an alumnus of Binghamton University where she studied
under Milton Kessler. Her poetry has appeared in many literary, parenting
and locals arts publications. She organizes and hosts a monthly poetry
reading series at Saratoga Springs' historic Caffe Lena. Begun in 2003,
these popular readings have featured an exciting range of poets from
across the country. She performs her work at many poetry venues around the
state as well as at anti-war rallies and other community events.
Originally from Plattsburgh, NY, she now lives with her family at the
southern end of the Adirondacks in Galway.

From the Book:

THE WILD TWIST OF THEIR STEMS

Like two fresh Buddhas they sit
on the top bunk, conspiring play
two Believers
two Thin Air Breathers
scalps closer to roof tops
than mine ever is

She bubbles in like a bent-leg dancer
a flesh splasher
I'm the never-let-you-go catcher
but I always let her go

He's the larger and climbs on his own
down to the rough rug, plant of our feet
He's the bold spirited leaper I apprenticed with

I live like a gardener
doggedly tending the wild twist of their stems
fending off what I can of disease
It is impossible work
rooted where they are
and though their beauty demands more strength than I lately possess
still I persist
in refusing to abandon the effort

The Wild Twist of Their Stems
is a 68 page hand-sewn book with spine - $14.00

A View of the Falls at Ausable Chasm

Lucy and I stopped off at the bridge over the falls at Ausable Chasm on our way to climb Pok-o-moonshine.

Snake on Poke-o-Moonshine

We saw three snakes when we climbed Poke-o-Moonshine in the Adirondack Park.

Climbing Poke-o-Moonshine

Lucy and I climbed Poke-o-Moonshine on Aug. 1, 2007. In the video Lucy keeps referring to "landmarks." She was worried about getting loss and wanted to have certain places to remember so we could make our way back down to the car. You can hear my heavy breathing throughout the video as well.

From Earlier this summer

I have entered this in an online video contest. The topic is cannonballs.
